Happy Halloween! The night of all nights is here again, and if you have little ones in the house, you are surely prepared with costumes hanging on closet door knobs and buckets ready to be carried. Halloween is the night of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and lots of candy. Of course from the dentistry viewpoint, Halloween can be very detrimental. However, with the right precautions, you can keep your favorite miniature smiles perfectly safe!
Take Water For the Walk
While you are walking the neighborhood, take a few bottles of water to keep yourself and your little ones hydrated. The water will also rinse some of the candy goo from your family’s mouths.
Limit Chewy Candy
Some candy is worse than others. Candy that is chewy or full of caramel is worse for little teeth and should be limited or avoided altogether. Stick with candy that can be scrubbed away fairly easily.
Floss and Brush Well
At the end of the night, when your princess or superhero turns back into your child, be sure to spend extra time flossing and brushing to remove any remaining candy residue. Do the same the following morning and after you allow them to indulge.
